The experimental pop duo of Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm traveled from their home base of Brooklyn to LA, Houston, and a sold-out very crowded show in Atlanta. Their second album, Highlights, came out on May 19, and shows a well-received progression of both musical and lyrical ideas since their debut, Mixed Emotions, three years ago. Evoking OMD and other 80s dance-y pop groups, but with their own present-day swing to it, they didn’t disappoint the audience in Atlanta. There was so much dancing and grooving going on, it was difficult to maneuver through the dark with my cameras. (Please tell me someone got that.)
“Highlights is not your four-to-the-floor indie-electro album. There are dance elements (“Slipping Away,” “Pieces,” and “Thinking”), but that has never been Eric Emm and Jesse Cohen’s goal with Tanlines.” –NYLON
