Ohana Fest is in six weeks! One of the many exciting acts on the lineup is X, fronted by the legendary Exene Cervenca, accompanied by bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer D. J. Bonebrake. Doe will also be the headline entertainment at the pre-festival fundraiser luau on August 26. Held at the Ritz-Carlton and hosted by Eddie Vedder and Kelly Slater and emceed by comedian Jeff Ross, the luau is a kick-off celebration to the festival itself and all ticket sales will be raising money to benefit The San Onofre Parks Foundation.
The Ohana Luau will include dinner, drinks, live entertainment (John Doe and other special guests to be announced), plus a live auction featuring various limited edition and one-of-a-kind items, memorabilia, gift packages. Given the sponsors for the festival (Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep among others) and the appearing bands (Eddie Vedder, Band of Horses, Elvis Costello, Lana Del Rey and many more), one would think there will be some very highly prized donated items for the auction.
The event is limited to 500 people, so it should prove to be a special and one-of-a-kind event for anyone attending. Very interested to know who the other “entertainment” special guests are, considering the caliber of talent appearing at the festival. Surely some of them must be dropping in to sing a tune or two.
This is the debut year for Ohana and if this goes well, it’s going to be a bragging point in future years to say, “I was at the first one.” Don’t miss out!
